the girl in the crowd

i still remember that mall show — the noise, the crowd, the banners that said kathniel foreversomewhere in that blur of fans, there i was — 14, maybe 15 — holding my camera high, convinced i was seeing love itself unfold on stage.

funny how we root for love stories like they’re our own. maybe because, in a way, they are. we grow up watching people fall in love, fight for it, lose it, and still choose to believe again.

when kath and dj went their separate ways, it felt strange. like watching the ending of a story you never thought would close. but maybe that’s the thing — endings don’t always mean something’s gone. sometimes, they just mean it was real while it lasted.

and for that 2013 girl in the crowd — the one who believed in love that big — i think she still does.
